Elgarida Elhaya (the Living Newspapaer) is a collaborative theatre project performed at artellewa (Cairo, Egypt). The project consists of a series of bi-weekly performances, which respond to social issues in a creative way, while seeking artistic meaning through the political.  Each performance, lasting about fifteen minutes, features a variety of art forms including puppetry and live theater. Alongside a continued focus on feminist issues and women’s rights, The Living Newspaper rotates its thematic focus every two weeks. The project involves close collaboration with activist groups to close the gap between art and action.
